What APOLITICAL means to YOU?

I'm a Civil Servant by profession and it has been quite long ever since I started thinking about this phrase.
Many civil servants are confused about what being APOLITICAL really means. Many consider apolitical means forbidding oneself from taking part in political discourse. However, for me, the lines are clear. I'm deeply into Politics and love discussing it. Because I know and I'm into POLITICS, not PARTY POLITICS! Many simply fail to differentiate the two and so the confusion. Any ways, whichever way one interpret, least it should be seen as restrictions to engage ourselves into truly meaningful political discussions. For it is the need of the hour. Remember, Our minds are like parachute, it works best when it's open.

Bhutanese Women need no Quota

Bhutanese Women need no quota because they are more than worth of a quota.  Giving quota indirectly undermines their caliber.

Of recent Bhutanese women and its participation in social and political life was discussed at length. Many have acknowledged that the role of Women in every social activity is vital because they are different from men. Because they are different, they have different needs. And to address the needs, we must have women in decision making positions to adequately address this.

Right To Information (RTI) Act: Can Bhutan have one?

Information is vital. Information is knowledge and knowledge is power. When people are informed, they are empowered- the key pursuit of every democratic institutions.

Simply put, Right to Information(RIT) Act is legalization of an individual's or organization's right to gain access to information. Democracy's essence is the rule of law. And in democracy, government is not about leaders but a governance based on rule of law. When such legal instruments are in place, both the electorate and elected assumes self-responsibility by default. This is because, the electorate remains ever vigilant of the actions of the elected to exercise their right to RTI and the elected on other hand readies itself to assume the duty to inform the electorate. When such mechanisms are in place, corrupt practices and ill-governance are kept away, hence, a sound governance based on healthy practices becomes by-product of RTI.

It is in this light one welcomes the news over the proposal to introduce RTI Bill by lone MP as an individual bill. I congratulate wholeheartedly, Hon. Sangay Khandu for the initiative. We know pretty much why the Cabinet kept aside the bill presented by MoIC, for all good reasons. We acknowledge that when RTI Bill gets enacted, there will/may be people who will exercise their rights to the full and extreme length, that may impend upon country's security. Because of that, we are aware that all information with the government cannot be given in the interest of larger good. However, this must not become the reason for keeping away RTI.

No Job without Experience, No Experience without Job: the fate of most graduates today

Unemployment and youth unemployment in particular is on rise every where in the world. It is also one of the many challenges developing countries face. The rise in youth unemployment is also seen by economists as a 'structural' issue, meaning many young people today graduate with less or no skills required for jobs. However, all this does not mean youth unemployment is not an issue. It is an issue everywhere and Bhutan's case is not an exception.

Youth unemployment is a growing concern and it is an issue that merit high consideration.
